Traveling more than 8,000 miles and crossing the Rocky Mountains, she helped explorers communicate with Indians and survive in the wild while carrying her infant son, Baptiste, the entire journey. Her contributions and bravery are commemorated throughout the world and will forever be recognized as invaluable to the US's early 19th century expansion.
